MID YORKSHIRE SUNDAY CRICKET LEAGUE

 

 

 

Rules

On this page the rules of the Mid Yorkshire Cricket League are published.

The Committee

1. The combination of clubs shall be called the Mid Yorkshire Sunday League.

2. The object of the League shall be the promotion of the game in Mid Yorkshire.

3. The business of the league shall be in the hands of the general committee which shall consist of one club representative, umpires representative and officers of the league, which shall meet in April each year. A fine shall be levied on each club not represented at the meeting (see rule 1 Fines.)

4. The officers of the league shall be a President, Vice President and Chairman, Vice Chairman of the general committee. Secretary, Treasurer and Auditors shall be elected anually at the A.G.M.

5. The management committee will consist of league officials and members of the general committee which will include a member of the Umpires federation, who will be elected at the A.G.M. Each member will have one vote, and the Chairman the casting vote.

 

The Annual General Meeting

1. The A.G.M of the League shall be held in February of each year, the scretary shall give at least 14 days notice of the A.G.M. together will full agenda of all items to consider. No restrictions on the admission to the A.G.M say that in the event of a vote being taken on any item of the agenda not more than one vote per club shall be permitted by the chairman.

2. Notice of proposals in the respect of rules changes and ammendments to any existing rules must be forwarded to the Secretary in writing no later than then August 31st. The proposals shall be considered by the management committee and forwarded to all clubs no later than September 30th for consideration. Clubs then wishing to propose further ammendments should do so by October 20th and should be submitted in writing. The ammendments, resolutions, correlated and arranged, will be circulated at least 14 days prior to the A.G.M. and no other ammendments will be accepted.

The only matters discussed at the meeting will be only those circulated to the clubs on the agenda for the meeting.

3. Matters dealt with at the A.G.M.
a) Appointment of Officers; President/Vice President/Chairman/Vice Chairman/Secretary/Treasurer/Auditors

b) Report to the Secretary

c) Treasurers report and statement of accounts

d) Appointment of management committee
e) Ammendment of rules
f) Other Matters included on the agenda previously circulated to the clubs.

4. A fine for non-attendance of the A.G.M shall be imposed unless a satisfactory excuse be given and received three days prior to the meeting and approved by the management committee.

 

Finances

1. The financial year shall commence on the 1st November of each year. All monies shall be paid into the Yorkshire Bank account in the name of Wakefield and District Cricket Union. Account's to be paid by cheque, to be signed by the treasurer and on other nominee who is a member of the management committee.

2. In case the amount levied by subscription does not meet the expenses of the league, the clubs shall contribute equally such a sum required.

3. Rate of subscription is £40.00 per team. Subscriptions to be paid to the treasurer before 1st June. All clubs to purchase 2 handbooks at a cost of £2.00 each.

 

Fines and Registration

1. The following fines shall be imposed for the following offences detailed below:

a) Failure of a club to be represented at the A.G.M. £25.00

b) Failure of a club to be represented at the general meeting. £25.00

c) Failure to send the result sheet by the home side, to the result secretary by the Monday pm after the match:
i) First scoresheet not sent in. £5.00

ii) Second scoresheet not sent in. £7.50
iii) Third score sheet not sent in, and everyone after. £10.00

d) Failure to pay league fees by 1st June. £25.00

e) IN the event of a team not fullfilling a fixture:
i) Without notification after 9.00pm Friday evening. £40.00 PLUS

ii) Umpires Expenses. £50.00

iii) Home Club Teas. £15.00

The league secretary or fixture secretary, and the opposing teams secretary must be informed by 9.00pm Friday night by the offending team secretary. £10.00

2. If any monies due to the league is not paid within 21 days of the invoice date, the fine will be increased by £5.00 per week or part there after. The treasurer will read out such defaulters at the general meetings.

 

Membership of the League

1. Application for membership of the League is considered by the committee, who shall inspect the applicants ground and facilites and their findings reported to the A.G.M.

2. A minimum of 6 cricket balls to be purchased by each club each season.

3. The League is opposed to all forms of racism and is committed fully towards the elimination of all forms of racism. Disciplinary action will betaken against any person who racially abuses any player, official, or spectator during a cricket match.

4. Any club wishing to withdraw from the league must notify the league secretary in writing before October 31st of that season giving 12 months notice. If this is not carried out the club will still be in membership of the League and is liable to pay the annual subscriptions.

 

The Players

1. No professional players allowed to play in the Mid Yorkshire Sunday League.

2. In order for a player to be eligible to play in a Top 4 Semi-Final, or Final, they must have played in 4 Mid Yorkshire Sunday League Matches during that season.

3. A player who has not fulfilled his financial obligations to his past club will not be allowed to play in the Mid Yorkshire Sunday League.

4. Should it be discovered that an ineligible player or players have played for a club in the Mid Yorkshire Sunday League match, all points gained shall be forfieted and maximum points given to the non-offending club. In the case of a cup match, should the defaulted club have won, the result will be reversed and in both cases a fine of £10.00 per player shall be imposed on the defaulting club.

5. After September 21st each year, a player moving clubs for the next season must complete the necessary transfer form from his previous club certifying that they have no obligations, financially, disciplinary or other to that club.

Transfer forms are available from the League secretary.

 

Trophies

1. League winners and runners up will both be presented with trophies after the Final each season.

2. The league trophies will be held until June 30th the following year.

3. A responsible member of the winning club shall be give an undertaking for the safe keeping and return the trophies in good clean condition.

4. In the event of two or more clubs being head of the league table with equal points the one with the most 6pt wins will be champions. If these are the same, the least number of 0pt losses will take preference. All being equal the championship will be shared.

5. Qualification for Averages:

a) Batting Averages - 5 innings and a minimum of 100 runs
b) Bowling Averages - 10 wickets taken
c) Wicket Keeping - Most victims

6. Only League matches will qualify for these awards. They will be presented annually.

7. Names of qualifiers must be handed to the league secretary after the last league match and before September 1st.

 

Rules of Play

1. Matches shall start at 2.00pm prompt. Should a team not be present to toss up at 15minutes before play is due to start they will forfiet the choice of innings. A team shall be no less than 8 players. If 8 players are not in attendance at the start of the game, it will be forfeited to the opposing team and maximum points awarded to the non-offending team. Failure to commence a match on time shall be reported on the result sheet by the Umpires, a fine shall be imposed (see rule 1 Fines)

2. The duration of the game shall be 80 x 6 ball overs, with a tea interval lasting 30minutes between innings.

The first batting side shall occupy nomore than half the available overs.

The second batting side shall occupy the balance of the overs not used by the first batting side. An over started counts as a full over.

3. Both teams shall turn up for all appointed matches as per handbook, or as re-arranged by the Management committee.

In the event that a ground is unfit to play on, or there is bad weather and no prospect of play, if both Captains and Umpires agree, the match can be called off prior to teams travelling to the relevant ground.

If the home clubs ground is unavailable the match must be played on another ground to be arranged by the home club. All necessary league officials must be notified in good time.

4.  Should the weather interfere with a game commencing at the appointed time, time lost for the first innings shall be equally shared at the rate of one over per every 6 minutes or part there lost. If owing to inclement weather a start is not possible at the registered time both teams and umpires must remain at the ground until 3.30pm after which no time shall lapse and the match drawn. No match will be less than 50 overs.

5. Captains must exchange team sheets at the toss of the coin and hand them to umpires for inspection and then to scorers for entry into the scorebook.

6. If a team is short of a player at the start of a game, a substitute will be allowed for the first 10 overs of the match. If however the player is not in attendance or on the field of play after this period, he cannot take part in the match. The substitute may continue to field but not bat, bowl or keep wickets; the umpires must be kept informed at all times of the situation.

7. The League is to specify the type of ball that is to be used by each team in all Mid Yorkshire Sunday League matches. The captains are to hand the match balls to the Umpires after the toss for inspection.

8. Bowlers are restricted to 8 overs per match.

9. All players are to be dressed in full white during play.

10. A batsman is to retire once his score has passed 100 runs. If the rest of the team is all out before all the overs are used, the player(s) who score 100 runs may return to the crease. Batsmen must return in the order they retired if more than one batsman passes 100 runs.

11. Visiting clubs must purchase at least 8 teas. If less are to be purchased then visiting club officials must inform home club accordingly before 8.00pm Friday prior to the match. For every team not required a total of £1.50 shall be paid to the home team as compensation of loss of revenue.

 

Results

1. Points to be awarded for league matches:-
a) Complete win (losing side bowled all out). 6 points

b) Incomplete win (losing side not bowled all out). 5 points

c) Losing side not bowled all out. 1 point

d) Scores equal. 3 points

e) Draw due to bad weather. 3 points

f) Losing side bowled all out. 0 points

Any side that declares there innings before all overs are bowled shall be considered all out.

2. The results of Mid Yorkshire Sunday League matches must be emailed to Results Secretary Ryan Dowse by Monday pm by the home team official.

 

Umpires

1. Umpires to be appointed to all matches by the umpires federation. £25.00 to be paid to the umpires to be made by both teams playing in league matches.

2. A fee of £35.00 shared by both teams if an umpire is called upon to officiate at both ends.

3. In the event of matches being called off before a bowl has been bowled, when both teams and umpires are in attendance, a fee to cover expenses shall be paid to maximum of £10.00 per umpire.

4. Umpires to be paid during the tea interval. Umpires watches are the official timepiece.

5. Umpires are to sign the scoresheet at the end of each match after the scores have been agreed by both captains.

 

Discipline and Appeals

1. In the event of any club being expelled from the league, the whole of those clubs league matches will be declared as void.
